The Designer

Arisa Pistulka is the founder of a-kura design, and is also a developer. Arisa has experience working in both commercial and residential design firms and has also taught figure skating for over a decade. She graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2008 from the University of Oklahoma and is a frequent attendant at events for her alma mater, the Urban Land Institute, and The American Institute of Architects with her husband for many years.

Arisa’s passion lies in small-scale developments within urban settings. Having grown up in Japan, her design approach is deeply shaped by that experience. Her work reflects a Japanese sensibility in the thoughtful use of space—combining carefully framed views, efficient functionality, and elegant, context-driven forms. Her goal is to bring the lessons of urban life in Japan to her current work, creating livable, refined housing that integrates seamlessly into the community.
